Axial gap
To exploit the full load carrying capacity of
support rollers without an inner ring, the
pin/shaft should: The following support rollers must be
located without any axial gap:
• be machined to tolerance class k5
• be machined to a surface inish similar to a • support rollers without lange rings, with 15
bearing raceway an inner ring (ig. 11)
• have the same hardness as a bearing • support rollers with lange rings (ig. 12)
raceway
Support rollers without an inner ring must
For additional information about raceways have an axial gap ≥ 0,2 mm between the
on shafts, refer to Raceways on shafts and in outer ring and the support surfaces (ig. 13)

Support surfaces Mounting
For support rollers without lange rings, the SKF recommends positioning the lubrication
outer ring support surfaces: hole in the unloaded zone of the inner ring
Positioning is not needed for PWTR and
• guide the outer ring and cage during NNTR design support rollers, which have the
operation lubrication holes in the empty space
• must be ine turned between the two roller sets
• must be free of burrs and clean Where mounting the outer ring assembly
• should extend to at least half the outer and inner ring separately, care must be
ring side face (ig. 11), if unhardened – taken not to damage the seal lips
hardened surfaces may be smaller
Heavily loaded support rollers with lange
rings should be axially supported:
• over the entire lange ring side faces
(ig. 12)
• according to diameter d (product table,
